What Driver's Licenses Are Valid?
At Camplify, the valid licenses for renting a caravaning vehicle in Spain are those recognized as valid by the Spanish Directorate General of Traffic (DGT).
As a driver, it is your responsibility to know and verify which license is valid in Spain before making a reservation.
Age and Experience Requirements:
- Generally, the authorized driver must be between 25 and 75 years old and have held a valid driver's license for at least 3 years.
Possible Variations in Minimum Age:
- Some variability in the minimum age may be allowed. We recommend checking the "Important Things" section of each listing before making a reservation to ensure you meet the necessary requirements.
We also advise you to visit the DGT website for accurate information or consult the Spanish embassy in your country of origin if you have any doubts.
However, as a general rule, in addition to licenses issued by the DGT in Spain, the following are valid for driving in Spain:
- Driver's licenses from citizens of the European Union and the European Economic Area (Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway): These will be valid for driving as long as they are in effect.
- Driver's licenses issued in third countries: Only those licenses that comply with Article 21 of the General Driver Regulations will be valid for driving in Spain. The validity of these licenses is always subject to the following conditions:
- The driver's license must be in effect.
- The driver must meet the age requirements in Spain to obtain an equivalent Spanish license.
- Very important: No more than six months should have passed since the driver acquired their normal residence in Spain.
If you are going to drive with a foreign license, it is your obligation and responsibility to determine whether your driver's license is valid for driving in Spain, if you need to exchange it, or if you need to obtain an International Driving Permit. You can find more information at this link.

Ensure that you have a valid driver's license. If your driver's license is not valid, your reservation will be canceled, and the corresponding cancellation policy will apply.
